Trustee Week 2021

Posted On : 03/11/2021

Trustees’ Week is an annual event to showcase the great work that trustees do and highlight opportunities for people from all walks of life to get involved and make a difference. Find out more about the Chair of our Charity Elsa Davies.

  1. Can you tell us a bit about your background?

After working many years in London, it was a delight to return to live in Wales. My family roots in Pembrokeshire go back to 1640 and beyond and are deeply embedded in the Narberth / Llandysilio area in the north of the county. When looking for a home in Wales, a key feature was having easy access to Rhydwilym Chapel which has such a remarkable and romantic history.

  1. What attracted you to become a trustee at the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Trust?

When I read about the intention to establish the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Trust there were two words which caught my eye. The first was ‘Pembrokeshire’, a county which is one of the brightest jewels in Wales’ crown and one which means so much to me. The second of which surprisingly was ‘fundraising’ as I enjoy the challenge of providing opportunities for people and grant givers to do good deeds and encouraging companies to be good corporate citizens.

  1. What do you enjoy most about being a Trustee?

Aside from the pleasure of working with a really keen and talented trustee team, my biggest delight is seeing the difference which the Trust’s funded projects makes to the efforts of the dedicated wardens and staff of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority. Their aspirations for Pembrokeshire are exceptional and knowing that the Trust can help them achieve over and above their targets through the kindness of others gives one a good feeling.

  1. What is the most important thing you’d like the public to know about Pembrokeshire Coast National Park?

As the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park celebrates its 70th anniversary next year, I hope that people will not only enjoy the glow of looking back at its many achievements but that they will look forward to a future of growth and prosperity…….and that all who really love and care about Pembrokeshire will support the trust to achieve it! A fitting legacy to delight visitors and residents in the years ahead!
