Golden Road Gin and Pembrokeshire Coast Charitable Trust Collaborate to Bring Heritage, Landscape and Local Flavours to the Preseli Hills

Visitors were invited to experience the Preseli Hills in a new way this April as Golden Road Gin partnered with the Pembrokeshire Coast Charitable Trust to deliver a unique guided walk, heritage experience and tasting event exploring the Golden Road landscape.

The event, held in Rosebush, introduced participants to the rich archaeology and storytelling of the Preseli Hills. This immersive experience combined landscape and history with the story of a locally produced gin, Golden Road Gin, a multi gold award winning botanical gin including Best in Class at the World Gin Awards, inspired by the ancient route itself. Working together, the gin-maker and the Trust brought to life the connections between the archaeological heritage of the Golden Road and the cultural and creative inspiration it continues to provide today.

The event raised £720 in support of the Trust, helping to fund conservation and heritage work across the National Park. Funds raised from the event will go towards supporting ongoing conservation and heritage work across the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

As the first event of its kind delivered in partnership with a local producer, participants enjoyed a blend of guided walking, storytelling and informal discussion. Guests told organisers they particularly valued the variety of the experience, from archaeology and landscape to the social atmosphere and the stories behind the gin.

Feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive, with participants highlighting the engaging mix of themes and the opportunity to experience the landscape in a new and memorable way. The Trust has reflected on this pilot event, welcomed participant feedback and identified key learning to support the development of future activities.

Jen Wheeler from Golden Road Gin, said:

“We’ve always believed the Preseli Hills hold a special kind of magic, and sharing that with people, through the stories, the landscape and the flavours that inspire our gin was truly rewarding. Watching guests connect with the place in such a meaningful way reminds us why we do what we do.”

Abi Marriott, Funding Officer, Pembrokeshire Coast Charitable Trust, said:

“It was a lovely day and has really helped us to shape future events and how we work in partnership going forward. Thank you to Golden Road Gin, who not only support events like this but also generously donate a percentage of their profits to the Trust.”

Following the success of this pilot event, a similar experience will run again on 5th September, with further details to be announced soon.
